Abstract
Shell-like particles of sodium chloride have been studied. Based on th e pair potential approximation of the total energy, analytical formula e have been derived for the particle size dependence of the shortest p air distance, the cohesive energy, the surface energy, and the compres sibility. It has been shown, how the localization of the surface of th e particle influences particle size effects.
