We investigate the Liquid system 2-propanol + cyclohexane at 25 degree
s C over the entire range of compositions. We obtain the excess Gibbs
function (from vapour-liquid equilibrium data), the excess enthalpy (f
rom calorimetric measurements), the excess entropy (from a combination
of both), the excess volume (from pycnometric density data), and the
viscosity (from experiments in an Ubbelohde viscometer). The molar exc
ess Gibbs function, the molar excess enthalpy, and the molar excess vo
lume are positive throughout, the first quantity being the most symmet
ric one with regard to the composition dependence (''symmetry rule'').
The molar excess entropy is very asymmetric; it is positive in a smal
l region of low alcohol content and negative in the main composition r
ange. The viscosity shows a flat minimum, but is otherwise inconspicuo
us in its composition dependence.
