Sl. Croft et al., THE ACTIVITIES OF 4 ANTICANCER ALKYLLYSOPHOSPHOLIPIDS AGAINST LEISHMANIA-DONOVANI, TRYPANOSOMA-CRUZI AND TRYPANOSOMA-BRUCEI, Journal of antimicrobial chemotherapy, 38(6), 1996, pp. 1041-1047
The in-vitro activities of four anticancer alkyllysophospholipids, ET-
18-OCH3 (edelfosine), hexadecylphosphocholine (miltefosine), ilmofosin
e and SRI 62-834, were determined with ED(50) values for Leishmania do
novani and Trypanosoma cruzi amastigotes between 0.2 and 5.0 mu M and
for Trypanosoma brucei trypomastigotes between 7.0 and 50.8 mu M. In B
ALB/c mice miltefosine and ilmofosine were the most active compounds w
ith ED(50) values of 2.9 and 14.5 mg/kg x 5 doses against L. donovani
and a suppressive effect on T. cruzi infections at 30 mg/kg x 5 doses.
