Sulphur dioxide was adsorbed from an air-SO2 mixture on activated coke
bed, then desorbed in a stream of reducing agent (hydrogen or natural
gas) and directly converted into elemental sulphur in a Gliding Are R
eactor. Close to 70 percent SO2 conversion was obtained in one-step la
boratory scale setup without using any catalyst.
