Abstract
A novel host-selective phytotoxin was isolated from Alternaria solani fungus. Correlation between blighting of tomato plants and resistance of the pollen to the substance was found to be -0.75. A method for gam etophyte selection was developed that produced progeny with enhanced r esistance to the disease within two generations.
