O. Engler et al., RECRYSTALLIZATION AND TEXTURE IN HOT DEFORMED ALUMINUM-ALLOY-7010 THICK PLATES, Materials science and technology, 12(9), 1996, pp. 717-729
The recrystallisation behaviour and its effect on the a crystallograph
ic texture during solution heat treatment of thick aluminium alloy 701
0 plates has been studied both on commercially hot rolled plates and o
n laboratory specimens deformed in plane strain compression. In additi
on to X-ray macrotexture analysis, individual grain orientation measur
ements within the recovered subgrains and the recrystallised new grain
s were performed by means of electron backscattering diffraction. Sign
ificant recrystallisation takes place during the solution treatment wi
th almost no change in the macrotexture. This behaviour is explained b
y the balancing effect of randomisation of the texture during recrysta
llisation and texture sharpening within the recovered matrix regions.
