Abstract
Three new neo-clerodane diterpenoids, 6 alpha-acetoxy-4 alpha,18-epoxy -2 alpha-hydroxy-13-neocleroden-15,16-olide (2 alpha-hydroxyajugarin V ), 4 alpha,18-epoxy-2 alpha,6 alpha-dihydroxy-13-neocleroden-15,16-oli de (2 alpha-hydroxy-deacetylajugarin V) and 2 alpha,6 alpha-dihydroxy- 4(18), 13-neoclerodadien-15,16-olide (scutedrummonin), have been isola ted from the aerial parts of Scutellaria drummondii, in addition to th e known flavone xanthomicrol. The structures of the new diterpenoids w ere established by chemical and spectroscopic means, including X-ray d iffraction analysis for 2 alpha-hydroxyajugarin V.
