Jp. Thurlow et al., INFERIOR PANCREATICODUODENAL ARTERY ANEURYSM - REPORT OF A CASE - ASSOCIATED WITH VISCERAL ARTERY ISCHEMIA, Vascular surgery, 31(1), 1997, pp. 75-81
Visceral artery aneurysms are well described in the surgical literatur
e. Specifically, inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery aneurysms are exc
eedingly rare and only minimal data are available to guide management
decisions. In the majority of published case reports surgical therapy
or angiographic intervention is recommended. This is a case report of
a ruptured inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery aneurysm associated wit
h complete occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery, precluding sur
gical or angiographic intervention. A review of the literature and the
rationale for nonoperative, medical management of this uncommon surgi
cal entity is the subject of this article.
