Abstract
The theory of periodic structures formed in laser and electron pulse i nduced crystallization of unsupported films and films on substrates is developed. The formulas for the periods and times of formation of per iodic structures are obtained and conditions of their formation are fo und. The theory agrees with the known experimental results on periodic structure formation.
