An aeroponics system was used for evaluating resistance of peas to Aph
anomyces euteiches. Five pea genotypes were tested for resistance to t
wo isolates of A. euteiches at concentrations of 0 to 10,000 zoospores
per milliter. Pea genotypes reacted differently to isolates of A. eut
eiches. Genotype 86-2231 demonstrated the lowest amount of disease and
Dark Skin Perfection the highest. Isolate 467 produced consistently h
igher disease scores than isolate FBI. Inoculum concentration and isol
ate X concentration effects were significant. This study provides evid
ence that an aeroponics system can be useful in evaluating the reactio
n of peas to A. euteiches.
