Abstract
The synthesis of new coloured anthryloxymethanes is described; they ar e reversibly transformed upon ir adiation into their colourless photoc yclomers. Their high photoreactivity. accompanied by a weak fluorescen ce and short singlet excited lifetimes, originates in the great flexib ility of the OCH2O spacer.
