Abstract
We consider the known finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras of charac teristic p > 3 and determine all finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra s over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p > 7 admitting a nonsingular derivation. We also show that the Z/(p(n) - 1)Z-graded simple Lie algebras which admit a nonsingular derivation must be of Ha miltonian type. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
