Abstract
A transportable wideband imaging radar is used to image two laboratory size concrete slab specimens to determine the viability of detecting a steel reinforcing bar (rebar) with 9-11 GHz waveforms at a range of 20 m (65.6 ft). The measurements demonstrate the use of the wideband r adar system for nondestructive testing of concrete structures. This pa per presents a description of the radar system, an imaging algorithm u sed, and the results of the measurements. Significance of transmitting waves over a wide frequency range and using a synthetic aperture rada r is discussed.
