The population for the study was drawn from seven Dublin schools. The
bullies and the victims were identified by means of teacher and peer r
atings and class questionnaires. Tests, questionnaries and interviews
were subsequently completed by the bullies, the victims and a control
group. The principals and the participating teachers in the different
schools also completed questionnaires. The intention was to draw up a
picture of the physical, psychological personality and behavioural cha
racteristics of bullies and victims and to examine the nature of bully
ing behaviour.
