F. Sinan et al., ADSORPTION OF POLYPEPTIDES - INFLUENCE OF THEIR NATURE AND DISSOLVED OXYANIONS - THE PARTICULAR CASE OF PLYS-L-)(SO4(2), Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie II. Mecanique, physique, chimie, astronomie, 320(3), 1995, pp. 137-140
The adsorption of polypeptides (L PLys, DL PAla, DL PAg, DL PAsp) on m
ercury in the presence of 0.1 M Na2SO4 and that of PLys in the presenc
e of salts (0.1 M) with other oxyanions was studied. The maximum surfa
ce excess does aot depend on the surface charge of mercery in a range
including the zero charge. A particular behaviour was observed in the
case of the system PLys + Na2SO4 : PLys is adsorbed as helix alpha. It
is explained by the effect of the SO42- anion favouring the conformat
ion cu in solution and by the presence of the NH3+ group in Lys, inter
acting with mercury.
