Examples of catalysis by proteins, notably by serum albumins (SA), in
organic reactions are reported. The chiral discrimination of bovine se
rum albumin (BSA) in the photolysis of racemic organic molecules resul
ts into an effective enantiomeric enrichment process. Thus, catalysis
by proteins in thermal reactions and biomolecular recognition, particu
larly in photochemical processes, appears to be a sound matter of inte
rest.
