Abstract
Results of this exploratory study found that for all subjects the divo rce experience affected spirituality. Individual interviews revealed h ow the divorce experience was affected by spirituality through common patterns and recurring themes. The twelve female volunteers were recru ited from support groups, all were divorced three years or less, and e ach was interviewed and evaluated using the Spiritual Well-Being (SWB) Scale (Paloutzian & Ellison 1982). For the majority, spirituality fac ilitated healing. This finding, along with the fact that over 80% soug ht counseling, implies that tapping spiritual strength for post-divorc e recovery may have profound influence for social work intervention.
