Abstract
A Brillouin scattering investigation has been performed in a Y2O3 sing le crystal, from room temperature up to 470 K. Elastic constant C-11 a nd linear combination [(C-11 + C-12)/2 + C44] were measured and the C- 12 and C44 constants roughly estimated. The results are discussed in c omparison with those obtained with alpha Al2O3.
