Abstract
We introduce the use of a SELFOC gradient index lens as a micro-optica l element for collection and focusing of luminescence of single molecu les in solid matrices. We demonstrate its performance by measuring sin gle molecule spectra of terrylene in n-alkanes and compare its signal- to-noise ratio and collection efficiency with that of a microscope obj ective.
