Radiocarbon dating of charcoal and humin at different depths, of three
soil pits in an oxisol, yielded similar age variations in relation to
soil depth. This indicates that the charcoal and humin burial can be
attributed to the soil fauna. Rates of accumulation in this soil range
from 0.21 to 0.23 mm/year.
