In this paper, a convenient and efficient method to detect and compens
ate tool wear automatically on Line is studied. A simplified discrete-
time mathematical model is established and a recursive filter algorith
m is deduced. By separating the detected signal from random noise, the
dimensional deviation information of workpiece caused by tool wear in
cutting process can be obtained. A suitable control strategy is appli
ed to compensate and correct the position parameters of cutting tools
and consequently improve the accuracy in CNC lathe operation.
