S. Shamasundar et al., MODELING THE CONSOLIDATION BEHAVIOR OF AN ALPHA-2-TITANIUM ALUMINIDE POWDER, Journal of materials processing technology, 48(1-4), 1995, pp. 817-823
The consolidation of an alpha-two titanium aluminide powder was analyz
ed using an approach based on two density dependent variables: the app
arent Poisson's ratio and a stress intensification (geometric hardenin
g) factor. Uniaxial compression tests on samples with different relati
ve densities were used to obtain the the apparent Poisson's ratio and
constitutive behaviour. Microhardness tests on undeformed and deformed
samples with different relative densities were used to obtain the str
ess intensification factor. With this information, a von Mises type yi
eld function, modified for pressure effects, was developed and impleme
nted into a finite element code and used successfully to model the den
sification of the alpha-two titanium aluminide powder.
