Abstract
A new Ti-rich, Ti-Al-O phase was found to exist at 900-1100 degrees C. By analysing a number of equilibrated alloys it was found that the ph ase was a line compound with a composition corresponding to the atomic formula Ti3Al0.9O1.1. The phase coexisted in three-phase equilibrium with each of Al2O3, Ti3Al and alpha-Ti.
