Abstract
The effect of cGMP on metabotropic glutamate receptor-induced stimulat ion of phosphoinositide hydrolysis in mesencephalic neuronal cultures was evaluated by cell incubation with the stable analogue dibutyryl-cG MP (10 mu M). A complete blockade of (1S,3R)-1-aminocyclopentane-1,3-d icarboxylic acid- or quisqualate-induced inositol phosphate formation was observed. Ionotropic glutamate receptors in mesencephalic neurons activate cGMP formation and, through this intracellular messenger, the y might control mGluR activity.
