A liquid argon hadronic calorimeter using the ''accordion'' geometry a
nd the electrostatic transformer readout scheme has been tested at CER
N, together with a liquid argon accordion electromagnetic prototype. T
he results obtained for pions on the linearity, the energy resolution
and the uniformity of the calorimeter response are well within the req
uirements for operation at the LHC.
