Abstract
Symmetric binding of nitrite via both O atoms to Cu(I) [Cu-O = 2.191 ( 4) angstrom] was observed. The copper coordination geometry is signifi cantly distorted from tetrahedral, as evidenced by the angles P-Cu-P [ 127.75 (7)-degrees] and O-Cu-O [56.7(2)-degrees].
