Abstract
In this study the calming effect of tactile stimulation (holding) on n ewborn infants in a stress situation was examined. The importance of t actile stimulation could not be proved exactly. However the results of this study might be explained by ''attention hypothesis'' explained i n a previous study (Kawakami et al., 1996).
