Many authors have been concerned with the research into the structure
of feature anxiety; they have defined both the in the contents differe
ntiated facets of the anxiety state according to the situations that p
rovoke anxiety, and the structural components within a situationally u
nconditioned feature of anxiety. We analyzed the structure of trait an
xiety and that of the anxiety state with the aid of STAI questionnaire
in 128 men - technical branch undergraduates; we focused our study at
the relation between the components and the temperament. Both trait a
nxiety and anxiety state are two-dimensional; in both cases, we isolat
ed negative and positive factors, i.e., the factor of negative mood, o
r tendency to experience anxiety, the factor of positive mood, i.e., t
endency to experience it. The above mentioned factors are mutually ind
ependent. The factor of negative mood is influenced by neuroticism, wh
ile the the factor of positive mood is independent of the temperament.
Tendency to experience states of anxiety depends both on neuroticism
and extraversion, while tendency to experience positive states does no
t depend on the temperament.
