Abstract
An H infinity controller based on the standard H infinity control desi gn approach is proposed for power system load-frequency control with s ystem parametric uncertainties. The variation bounds of power system p arameters are obtained by changing parameters by 30%-50% simultaneousl y from their typical values. The existing H infinity control technique is applied to design a load-frequency controller for power systems. T he design procedure is given. The proposed H infinity controller is si mple, effective and can ensure that the overall system is asymptotical ly stable for all admissible uncertainties. Our simulation results sho w that for the example system the proposed H infinity load-frequency c ontroller can achieve good performance even in the presence of generat ion rate constraint.
