The stress field is calculated for a finite plane with a single edge r
ounded tip V-notch by means of an improved Schwartz-Christoffel's conf
ormal transformation method and the solution of Muskhelishvili with a
high accuracy. a new parameter K-rho, the stress intensity factor defi
ned for blunt notch is determined from the calculated stress distribut
ion around the notch. The influence of the angle and acuity of notch o
n the critical notch stress intensity factor K-rho,K-c is studied.
