C. Prieur et al., DETERMINATION OF RESIDUAL METHACRYLIC-ACID AS A FOOD CONTAMINANT POTENTIALLY RELEASED BY PACKAGING MATERIALS, Sciences des aliments, 15(1), 1995, pp. 75-81
A specific and sensitive high-pressure liquid chromatographic method f
or the determination of residual methacrylic monomer was developed in
order to study the migration into food of methacrylic acid present in
packaging materials. The optimal conditions for extraction of methacry
lic acid from aqueous and oily media were investigated. Determination
methods were validated. The HPLC method can be applied to the determin
ation of the amount of constitutive monomers released in model situati
ons and in packaged foods.
