The interaction of Ph(3)Ti with a number of ketones (acetone, 2-butano
ne, 3,3-dimethyl-2-butanone, benzophenone) was studied. The PhTi(OCR(1
)R(2)Ph)(2) complexes, where R(1)=R(2)=Me (a), R(1)=Me, R(2)=Et (b), R
(1)=Me, R(2)=t-Bu (c), and R(1) R(2)=Ph (d) were isolated in satisfact
ory yields. These compounds were characterized by ESR and IR spectrosc
opy and elemental analysis. Their thermal stability was determined by
the DTA method. The reaction of Bn(3)V with acetone gives V(OCMe(2)Bn)
(3). In analogy with titanium compounds, Bn(4)V reacts with acetone at
the ratio 1 : 2 to give Bn(2)(OCMe(2)Bn)(2).
