Abstract
To identity the influence of soil factors on sugarcane rootstock borer (RSB) infestation, 24 sugarcane fields from the 1991-92 cropping seas on were randomly selected in January 1993 in the greater Dinajpur dist rict of Bangladesh. Percentage organic matter, total nitrogen and avai lable sulphur were found to have a significant negative influence on R SB infestation whereas pH, available phosphorus and exchangeable potas sium did not show any significant effects on this pest. Addition of or ganic matter, lime and sulphur may reduce the amount of infestation by RSB.
