Abstract
Modification of flaps prior to local or distant transfer has gained wi de acceptance. The term prefabricated has been used to describe all po ssible modifications. In this article we introduce the term prelaminat ion to refer to the implantation of tissue or other devices into a fla p prior to transfer and suggests that prefabrication be restricted to the implantation of vascular pedicles. A case is presented illustratin g these concepts. (C) 1994 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
