Dk. Chatterjee et Pk. Saha, CHARACTERISTICS OF ORGANIC-MATTER IN UNDRAINABLE FISH POND SOILS, Israeli journal of aquaculture-Bamidgeh, 48(3), 1996, pp. 142-148
Characteristics of organic matter of undrainable fish pond soils with
varying organic carbon contents (0.30-3.15%) were studied. Humus and i
ts alkali soluble fractions increased with the increase in organic car
bon content and the humus content was highly correlated (r = 0.971, p<
0.01) with the organic carbon content. Fulvic acid was the dominant fr
action of humus in most of the soils and a significant correlation (r
= 0.868, p<0.01) was observed with humic acid. Their ratio was correla
ted with the level of humification (r = 0.779, p<0.01).
