Intraparticle transport of amino acids, phenylalanine and tryosine, in
a macroreticular cation-exchange resin, Amberlite 200, was investigat
ed in a finite batch adsorber. A transport model was developed based o
n the consecutive diffusion of the amino acids through liquid-filled m
acropores and microspheres. The latter was further simplified by the l
inear driving force approximation (LDFA) since the microspheres are qu
ite small. The model was used satisfactorily for simulating and predic
ting the performance of finite batch operations.
