An analysis has been performed of the capacity of intermediate storage
vessels required to buffer the effects of periodic production failure
. Simple analytical expressions for the limiting volume of the storage
as a function of failure frequency and system parameters have been de
veloped for SISO storage system under the assumption that system varia
bles were integer number. All these simple analytical expressions are
directly useful for determining the storage size and are the bases for
more advanced engineering study such as; operations research, control
ler design and process synthesis.
