Abstract
As in every professional field, social relations between the sexes ope rate in that field of sociology which analyzes them. Male domination p ractices and sex solidarity within the men's group result in a structu ring of the discipline that opposes ''generalist'' sociology to a femi nist sociology reduced to a particularist point of view. Behind the di vision of the discipline into ''scientific fields'' looms the sexual d ivision of labor and a corresponding partitioning of territories.
