The ability of the actinomycetes of the genus Actinomyces flavescens G
V1 for destruction of natural and chemically modified lignins was inve
stigated. Growth of the culture on natural lignocellulose (corn straw)
was accompanied by accumulation of water-soluble acid-precipitable po
lymer lignin in the nutrient medium. It was established that the ligni
nolytic activity of A. flavescens may be intensified by adding inducer
s of an aromatic nature (veratryl alcohol, eugenol, syringic acid) to
the nutrient medium.
