RAPID RADIONUCLIDE DETERMINATION OF ACTIVITY OF MICROORGANISMS IN NATURAL-WATER

We developed a modification of the known radionuclide method for deter mining the activity of aquatic microorganisms in situ with spontaneous (passive) displacement of (CO2)-C-14 (formed in mineralization of a C -14-substrate by these microorganisms) from the incubation bottle. Acc ording to this modification, the duration of the procedure is halved, while the reliability of determining the microorganism activity increa ses. The proposed modification of the method was used in the course of investigations conducted in the Kandalakshskaya Bay of the White Sea.
