S. Ray et al., P-32 POSTLABELING ANALYSIS OF AROMATIC DNA-ADDUCTS IN LIVER AND BRAINOF WILD BROOK TROUT (SALVELINUS-FONTINALIS), Chemosphere, 30(4), 1995, pp. 773-778
Several studies have reported the absence of DNA-adducts in fish colle
cted from unpolluted areas, We determined DNA-adduct levels in liver a
nd brain tissue of wild brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) from remot
e areas of Newfoundland and sub-arctic Labrador, that have no known in
put of anthropogenic contamination, Varying levels of adducts were det
ected in both liver and brain, at all locations. Hepatic adduct levels
were generally higher than those in brain tissue, Tissue-specific dif
ferences in adduct levels and the possible effects of long range trans
port of air pollutants (LRTAP) are discussed,
