The work described in this article was undertaken in an attempt to exp
lain the high-temperature stability of rapidly solidified, face-center
ed-cubic Al-8Mn-2Ni alloys by the change in Debye characteristic tempe
rature (Theta). The Theta has been determined from the x-ray diffracti
on intensities by evaluating Debye Waller factor B. It was found that
Theta remains almost unchanged on annealing up to 623 K, thus predicti
ng its high-temperature stability.
