The possibility of use of highly concentrated heating sources (laser,
electron beam, compressed arc) for strengthening the aging effect in t
ype N12Kh5M3DYu maraging heat-resistant steel, which may be used for s
urfacing of hot-work tool steels, is investigated. For solution of thi
s problem the transformations in type N12Kh5M3DYu steel in the surfaci
ng thermal cycle were investigated, the thermokinetic diagram of decom
position of austenite was constructed, and the influence of high heati
ng and cooling rates in aging was determined.
