Abstract
The out-of-plane resistivity as a function of temperature, magnetic fi eld and its orientation is measured directly by means of transport cur rents along the c-axis for single crystalline La1.86Sr0.14CuO4. The re sults emphasize that the dissipation is not dominated by the Lorentz f orce driven vortex motion. Previously considered Lorentz force free di ssipation models are reexamined. Our analysis shows that none of them can give a reasonable interpretation of the experimental findings.
