Abstract
The reaction between (Et(3)Ge)(2)Cd and TiCl4 in the presence of alpha ,alpha'-bipyridyl afforded a compound with a Ge-Cd-Ti group. This comp ound was characterized by IR and ESR spectroscopy. Thermal decompositi on of this compound at 130 and 160 degrees C and its interaction with gaseous HCl were studied. A novel complex, (Et(3)Ge)(2)Cd.bpy, was obt ained as a by-product of the reaction, and some its physicochemical ch aracteristics were determined. Based on the experimental results, a sc heme for the interaction of (Et(3)Ge)(2)Cd with TiCl4 has been suggest ed.
