Z. Fan et Sr. Pennock, HYBRID MODE ANALYSIS OF PARALLEL COUPLED INSET DIELECTRIC GUIDES, IEE proceedings. Microwaves, antennas and propagation, 142(1), 1995, pp. 57-62
The inset dielectric guide has shown considerable potential for circui
t and antenna applications. In the paper, an efficient hybrid mode met
hod, based on integral equation formulation and Galerkin's procedure,
is presented for a rigorous analysis of parallel coupled inset dielect
ric guides. In comparison to experimental data, this model is seen to
give more accurate calculations of the propagation and coupling charac
teristics than achieved in previous publications. Numerical results ar
e presented to illustrate the influence of various structural paramete
rs on frequency dependent coupling characteristics. It is found that h
igh and flat coupling coefficients can be obtained by using very small
guide separation and by the appropriate choice of slot height. Theref
ore this structure appears to be very useful for broadband coupler app
lications.
