Abstract
The isotope shifts (IS) of Bi-202,Bi-203,Bi-204 have been measured on the 306.7 nm line using an extremely sensitive gas cell technique of l aser spectroscopy. A King plot analysis of this data with other IS mea surements in neighbouring isotope chains reveals that the known scalin g behaviour of relative changes in mean square nuclear charge radius i s only strictly ovserved above the Z = 82 shell closure.
