Kn. Korostik et Ia. Malevich, A LIGHT DETECTOR WITH AUTOMATIC GAIN-CONTROL BUILT AROUND AN AVALANCHE PHOTODIODE, Instruments and experimental techniques, 37(5), 1994, pp. 660-662
The gain of a light detector built around a germanium LFD-2A photodiod
e is controlled by automatically adjusting the diode bias so as to hav
e a constant delay between the pulses generated by two comparators wit
h different thresholds connected to the photodiode output. When detect
ing optical pulses generated by a GaAlAs injection laser varying over
a dynamic range of 20 : 1, the output signal instability is less than
5%, and the delay jitter is less than 350 psec.
