Abstract
Seven field experiments were conducted to obtain agro-economic informa tion about liming and of fertilization of common bean (Phaseolus vulga ris L.) and of upland rice (Oryza saliva L.). In the 1(st) experiment there were 36 plots, half of these received liming and the rest half d id not receive liming. All the plots received fertilization at the rat e of 50-100-60 kg/ha of N-P2O5-K2O, respectively. In the 2(nd) experim ent, plots; with and without liming, six did not receive fertilization (00-00-00), six received same fertilization of the earlier, and remai ning six received 70-120-82 kg/ha of N-P2O5-K,O, respectively. The lim e was applied for three times during the experimental period, totallin g 7.6 t/ha (lime neutralizer power = 100%). The 6(th) experiment consi sted of treatments with increasing levels of formulated fertilizer (0, 200, 400, 600, 800 e 1000 kg/ha). In the 7(th) experiment, increasing levels of N were tested (0, 30, 60, 90 e 120 kg/ha). Total yield of b ean during the experiment period increased 54% by liming and benefit/c ost ratio was 9.3, For rice, yield increase was 14%. Common bean respo nded up to maximum level of N (120 kg/ha) applied as topdressing. for bean crop maximum economic level was 359 kg/ha applied through 4-50-16 formulation, with net benefit of 8.6 bags of 60 kg each and benefit/c ost ratio of 1.3.
