Va. Kotenev et Mn. Fokin, ELLIPSOMETRIC STUDY OF THE ELECTROCHEMICAL MECHANISM OF THE PASSIVATION OF FE-CR ALLOYS DURING GAS OXIDATION BY ALTERNATING-CURRENT, Protection of metals, 31(1), 1995, pp. 46-51
The particular features of the dependence of gas oxidation of Fe-18Cr
alloy on the air pressure with heating by alternating current and in a
furnace have been studied, taking into account the activating functio
n of alternating current. The activating action of heating by alternat
ing current in the region of 2 x 10(-2) torr manifests itself as a str
ong thickening and change in the composition of the oxide formed. The
results were analyzed using the Wagner model supplemented by an accoun
t of polarization phenomena on phase boundaries of the growing oxide.
